Rainer Strauch is a construction engineer from Germany. He was first introduced to sustainable timber buildings during his studies (1990-1996), when he designed a timber frame student home. Since 1996 he has worked with several companies in the field of construction, engineering and project management. In 2009 he joined Rhomberg’s LifeCycle Tower (LCT) research, design and development team. In 2010, this division of Rhomberg was established as Cree. At Cree, Mr. Strauch was in charge of developing the LCT wood/concrete hybrid floor system which has been the basis for the LCT ONE prototype project.
Mr. Strauch then became the design/build project manager for the LCT ONE and subsequent projects. Currently, Mr. Strauch oversees Cree’s international technical operations, especially in terms of knowhow transfer and local support. Rainer Strauch is a PHI Darmstadt certified Passive House Designer as well as a green building auditor, certified by the DGNB/ÖGNI (German/Austrian Green Building Council).
