Tomás is leading the team responsible for delivering this World nZEB Forum. He a founder of nZEBRA, Ireland’s first dedicated nZEB consultancy practice, and comes with extensive experience in the low-energy building and certified Passive House sector. Tomás established the multi-disciplinary environmental design firm MosArt in 1993 with his business partner Art McCormack. He designed, built and lives in the first certified (BER A2) Passive House in the English speaking world (2004).
Tomás was one of the first accredited Passive House building certifiers licensed by the German Passive House Institute. He leads a team of experts in this field and provides specialist consulting and certification services for some of the most energy efficient and healthy buildings in the world. The core market for these services is in Ireland and the US, but he has also worked directly on projects in China, Australia and New Zealand.
Much of Tomás’ career has been spent trying to move highly sustainable buildings from niche to mainstream. He has pursued this through delivery of training and education programmes across the world, hosting fact-finding missions to front runner sustainable communities and putting on events such as this World Forum. He has worked with policy makers in the US, Canada and Ireland to pave the way for high performance buildings and believes firmly that such standards result in positive outcomes for all involved.
